💻 About Tracer

Tracer is an observability platform for high compute scientific pipelines.

Many scientific teams face two major challenges: the difficulty of debugging complex workflows and the rising cost of running them at scale. These problems slow the pace of research and inflate infrastructure costs, making breakthroughs in areas like drug discovery and advanced engineering harder to achieve.

Tracer helps researchers and engineers optimize costs and boost productivity, accelerating the discovery of new drugs, improving blood diagnostics, and speed of systems across life sciences, engineering, and beyond.

Backed by over $3M from top investors and based in London, we’re assembling a founding team to tackle this opportunity. Ready to make an impact?

🚀 About The Role

Your mission is to work hand-in-hand with the founders to solve Tracer’s most pressing challenges, ranging from recruiting and operations to finance and legal. This will be both on a high strategic level as hands-on tasks. As you settle within the role, your scope can expand into areas like marketing, sales or product, depending on the company’s needs and your interests. This is the closest to a founder you can be.

You’ll act as a force multiplier for the founders, keeping quality high across everything we do and making independent decisions on their behalf. This is a fast-paced, high-ownership role where you’ll be trusted with meaningful responsibility from day one.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in ambiguity, loves to get things done, and wants to grow alongside an ambitious early-stage startup. Everything else can be taught.

This role is based in London. As a fast-growing company and team, we value working together, in person. Please apply if you're in London or willing to relocate. We sponsor visas.

💼 Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as an extension of the founders, especially the COO, to reduce workload and make independent, high-quality decisions
  • Design, lead, and deliver mission-critical projects from concept to execution to drive company growth
  • Step in wherever needed to solve urgent challenges and keep operations running smoothly
  • Create systems and habits that foster continuous learning, efficiency, and performance improvement across the team
  • Identify and prioritize high-leverage opportunities that help Tracer move faster and smarter

🌟 What we are looking for:

Required:

  • 2–5 years of experience in a high-performing environment (startups, consulting, investment banking, venture capital, or similar)
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a proactive attitude in fast-changing situation
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills with bias for ‘speed over efficiency’
  • A “no task is too big or too small” mindset, you roll up your sleeves and get it done

Nice-to-haves:

  • Early startup experience as a founder and/or operator
  • Understanding of or interest in biotechnology, high-performance computing, or scientific software industries
  • A passion for helping technical teams scale efficiently and make science go faster

⚒️ Our Recruitment Process

  • Introductory Call (15-30 mins): Call with our hiring manager to discuss your background, motivations, and learn more about Tracer
  • Role Fit Interview (45 mins): Meet with one of the founders to review your working style, skills, and fit for the role
  • Take-home & Competency Deep Dive (2 hours): Complete a practical exercise (e.g., case study, presentation, or technical problem-solving) to explore the role's responsibilities and expectations
  • On-site meetup (Half Day): On-site interviews and team lunch at our headquarters to ask any questions and experience our office and culture firsthand
  • Offer: Final decision and offer

Compensation Range: £65K - £100K
