The 30-second pitch

Big Wave has been handed a seriously good one. A pre-Series A startup, led by a solo technical founder who can ship product in their sleep but cannot (yet) bend space-time to be in five places at once.  

That's the flux capacitor we're missing. That's you.  

This is not a "manage the founder's calendar" gig. It's a "own the founder's hardest problems and make them vanish" gig. If you're the person who quietly runs the entire operation while everyone else wonders how the trains keep running on time — great Scott, keep reading.

Pick your fighter 🎮

You've got 2–7 years of firepower and you fit one of these three builds:

  • The Ex-Founder — you actually raised money or cracked into an accelerator. Real traction, not an LLC and a vision board.
  • The Escape Artist — consulting or banking → early-stage startup (MBB or Goldman, then a bold leap to a seed/Series A team, no regrets).
  • The Scaling Survivor — you lived through a Seed→A or A→B growth spurt and have the scar tissue to prove it.

You're a generalist, but you've got a spike — a sharp edge in GTM/sales or product. (We're leaning GTM right now, but a killer product brain earns a seat too.)

What you'll actually do

  • Own the CEO's biggest bets end-to-end — product launches, growth strategy, fundraising support, customer research. Not "help with." Own.
  • Run cross-functional projects across product and GTM without anyone drawing you a map
  • Keep the timeline intact — planning cycles, metrics reviews, burn rate, people ops, hiring pipelines. The operating cadence is yours.
  • Build the machine — scalable systems and processes (Vanta compliance, commission structures, AI tooling) so nothing snaps as the company grows
  • Talk to customers, then act — run interviews, turn the chaos into insight, push product forward
  • Make launches land — scripting, vendor wrangling, storyboarding, and the thousand tiny things nobody else remembers

What's in it for you 💰

Base salary  

$100K – $175K  

Equity  

0.4% – 1% (4-year vest, 1-year cliff)  

Pre-Series A is the polite way of saying: this equity could genuinely be worth something. You're getting in early enough for the numbers to matter.

The fine print 📍

  • Location: San Francisco. In-person, 5 days a week. No remote, no hybrid, no exceptions — this crew builds shoulder-to-shoulder.
  • Visa sponsorship: Available. Relocation help too — we'll get you to 1985... er, SF.

Non-negotiables (don't apply without these) ✅

  • A real startup background — you founded something or worked at an early-stage company
  • You fit one of the three archetypes above
  • Generalist with a clear spike in GTM or product
  • Based in SF or genuinely willing to relocate and be in-office 5 days a week

Bonus points ⭐

  • AI-native / applied AI experience
  • A prior Chief of Staff, ops, or product role
  • Top-20 university (Ivy League is a nice touch)
  • Technical literacy — you don't need to code, but you should hold your own in a room full of engineers

Things that'll get you a polite "no" 🚨

  • Big-company-only résumé with zero startup exposure
  • "Founder" with no real traction (an LLC is not a company)
  • Needs hand-holding — if you wait to be told what to do, this isn't your DeLorean
  • Pure generalist with no sharp edge
