About the Role
We are hiring a full-time Chief of Staff to build and run the operational backbone of a high-impact policy organization. This role is responsible for ensuring that the organization operates with rigor, cohesion, and excellence as it scales, enabling leadership and the team to focus on advancing substantive policy priorities.
The Chief of Staff will report to the Chief Executive Officer and work in Washington, DC. This role is suited for a proven operator with exceptional judgment who thrives in fast-moving environments and takes ownership of making organizations perform at the highest level.
The Chief of Staff will:
- Build and lead the organization’s operations function, ensuring cohesion and alignment across all areas of work
- Serve as the primary operational partner to the Chief Executive Officer, translating strategic priorities into execution
- Design and maintain the internal systems, processes, and operating cadence required for the organization to function effectively
- Coordinate across policy, legal, government relations, and communications staff to ensure alignment, clarity, and timely execution of key projects
- Identify operational risks, gaps, and inefficiencies early, and implement solutions to address them proactively
- Lead special projects from conception through execution, particularly in response to timely policy developments and strategic opportunities
- Build and manage internal infrastructure for hiring, onboarding, and team development as the organization grows
- Ensure leadership priorities are executed consistently and that commitments are tracked, met, and completed to a high standard
- Maintain clear, structured internal communication so that roles, expectations, and timelines are well understood and satisfied
Qualifications
- Experience operating within a startup, policy organization, advocacy group, or similarly fast-moving environment, preferably in Washington, DC
- Strong familiarity with the U.S. policy ecosystem, including how legislative, regulatory, and advocacy processes function in practice
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with the ability to translate evolving priorities into clear plans and disciplined execution
- Demonstrated ability to build structure and operational clarity in environments where systems and processes are still being established
- Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage sensitive matters with professionalism and care
- An ambitious, accountable, high-agency operator motivated by the responsibility of building durable systems and strengthening institutional effectiveness

The expected annual base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $250,000. Salary within that range will be based on the individual’s experience, skills, and qualifications. In addition to the base salary, successful applicants will also be eligible for a grant of HYPE tokens.
