Role: Director of Corporate Affairs

Location: Flexible (UK-based, with travel)

Salary: £150,000–£160,000 + competitive package

Are you a visionary leader ready to shape the future of a UK Energy business? Our client is seeking a dynamic Director of Corporate Affairs to join their executive team and drive reputation, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communications at the highest level.

About the Role

As Director of Corporate Affairs, you will report directly to the CEO and be a trusted advisor to the Board and senior leadership. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team responsible for external and internal communications, government and public affairs, media relations, and stakeholder engagement across the UK and international markets. Your remit will be broad and influential, placing you at the heart of the business to shape narrative, manage risk, and protect and enhance our corporate reputation in a rapidly evolving energy landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a forward-thinking corporate affairs strategy aligned with business objectives and sustainability ambitions.
  • Advise the CEO and Board on reputation management, policy, and regulatory trends, ensuring their voice is heard in critical industry and public debates.
  • Oversee all aspects of media relations, crisis communications, and digital engagement, including social media strategy and content ownership.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government, regulators, investors, industry bodies, and local communities, advocating for the business's interests and supporting the UK’s energy transition.
  • Lead internal communications, fostering employee engagement and a unified corporate culture.
  • Represent the company at senior external engagements, including media interviews, industry forums, and government meetings.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a high-performing team, championing continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration.

About You

  • Proven track record as a senior leader in corporate affairs, public affairs, or communications, ideally within a complex, regulated sector such as energy, infrastructure, or financial services.
  • Experience advising C-suite executives and Boards, with the gravitas to influence at the highest levels.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and networking skills, with established relationships across government, industry, and media.
  • Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen and the ability to translate complex issues into compelling narratives.
  • Confident spokesperson, skilled in crisis management, digital communications, and campaign-led engagement.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, able to drive innovation and adapt to a fast-changing external environment.
