Job Title: Chief of Staff  

Reports to: Executive Director  

Location: Baltimore, MD (Hybrid/On-site)  

Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt  

  

About Restorative Response Baltimore (RRB):  

Restorative Response Baltimore is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting restorative justice practices that transform conflict, repair harm, and strengthen relationships in communities. Through community conferencing, circle processes, and professional development programs, we support people of all ages in creating accountable, healing-centered approaches to justice.  

  

Position Summary:  

The Chief of Staff is a key strategic partner to the Executive Director, helping to drive organizational effectiveness and alignment across all departments. This position manages cross-functional initiatives, supports internal operations, and serves as a liaison between leadership and staff. The Chief of Staff plays a critical role in advancing RRB’s mission by ensuring the organization operates with clarity, coordination, and purpose.  

  

Key Responsibilities:  

Strategic Operations & Leadership Support  

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive Director, helping to execute organizational priorities and manage high-level initiatives.  
  • Oversee the implementation of strategic plans, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met across departments.  
  • Prepare materials, briefings, and reports for leadership meetings, funders, and the Board of Directors.  

  

Internal Communications & Staff Coordination  

  • Facilitate internal communications and ensure alignment across program, operations, and administrative teams.  
  • Organize and lead leadership team meetings and retreats; track outcomes and follow up on action items.  
  • Support the development and management of organizational dashboards, internal policies, and evaluation processes.  

  

Project & Change Management  

  • Lead special projects and cross-functional initiatives, ensuring timely and successful execution.  
  • Coordinate planning and roll-out of key organizational changes or new initiatives.  

  

Organizational Culture & Talent Support  

  • Partner with HR and Operations to support staff onboarding, professional development, and performance management systems.  
  • Promote a healthy, inclusive, and restorative workplace culture through effective communication and responsive leadership practices.  

  

Board & Stakeholder Engagement  

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director on board management, including preparing agendas, reports, and meeting materials.  
  • Maintain key relationships with external partners, donors, and community leaders in support of strategic goals.  

  

Qualifications:  

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in nonprofit management, program operations, or organizational strategy.  
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and manage organizational priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.  
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial equity, restorative justice, and community-centered leadership.  
  • Highly organized and self-directed, with excellent problem-solving abilities.  
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in nonprofit management, public administration, or related field preferred.  

  

Compensation & Benefits:  

  • Salary Range: $52,000 – $59,000, commensurate with experience
