Chief of Staff

The role: Be the operating system behind Clove's CEO as we scale from 9 to 100+ offices over the next 24-36 months. Run weekly leadership cadence, manage cross-functional projects, and build the systems that let one CEO operate across 6+ senior leaders, active M&A pipeline, and the board. Series B closed with tier-1 healthcare investors.  

Reports to: CEO.  

Location: LA, 4 days in office.

You will own:

  • CEO and management team operating cadence: build agendas, run the weekly leadership meeting, distribute action items within 4 hours, drive follow-through the next week, and handle 1:1 for exec team with preparation.
  • Initiative tracker: maintain the master tracker of every major project across the company — owner, status, next milestone, blocker — refreshed weekly. CEO can ask "where are we on X?" and get a 60-second answer.
  • Weekly KPI dashboard: build and send every Monday 9am — top 5-7 metrics across patient flow, revenue, hiring, and M&A pipeline
  • Meeting leverage: sit in meetings the CEO can't attend; brief in writing the same day in <500 words
  • CEO-facing comms: draft monthly all-hands, monthly investor updates, quarterly board materials. CEO edits, doesn't write from scratch.
  • Senior hire onboarding: own the 30-60-90 day plan execution for every new senior hire — intros booked, scorecards reviewed, friction surfaced
  • Cross-functional project management: own anything that falls between functions — new office launches, system migrations, M&A integration support, ad-hoc strategic projects
  • Decision documentation: capture decisions and SOPs as they're made; build the company's operating manual

KPIs:

  • CEO time reclaimed: 15-20 hours/week of tactical/coordination time moved off CEO's calendar within 90 days (measured by calendar audit)
  • Meeting discipline: 100% of leadership team meetings have pre-distributed agendas; >90% of action items completed by stated deadline
  • Initiative tracker: 100% of major initiatives current, refreshed weekly
  • KPI dashboard: delivered every Monday 9am, zero misses
  • Zero "fell through the cracks": CEO commitments tracked to completion
  • Leadership team NPS: at 90 days, senior team rates the CoS function ≥8/10 in a confidential pulse

Profile:

  • 2-4+ years at a top consulting firm (MBB, Bain, BCG, McKinsey), investment bank (GS, MS, Lazard, Centerview), private equity, or CoS / strategic operations role at a high-growth startup
  • Obsessive about documentation, follow-through, and operational discipline — to the point colleagues notice
  • Strong writer — can produce a clean 1-page memo from a 60-minute meeting
  • Comfortable building and maintaining dashboards in Notion, Linear, Airtable, or similar
  • AI-fluent — uses GPT, Claude, or similar daily to compress repeat work
  • Self-starter who interprets intent and runs; doesn't need step-by-step direction
  • LA-based; no visa sponsorship
  • 2 year role and then can integrate into a functional team within Clove Dental
