The Chief of Staff reports directly to the CEO and plays a critical role in helping the CEO drive Alcon’s strategic priorities. This role is a trusted advisor to the CEO and top executives in driving results, facilitating effective and focused discussions, and ensuring efficient operations at the executive leadership level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES OF CHIEF OF STAFF:

Lead material creation for CEO’s monthly and quarterly reporting commitments (i.e., Alcon Executive Leadership team and meetings, Board of Directors, key events) in strong coordination with functions providing contentSupport functions in preparation for key presentations (e.g., Board of Directors), ensuring high quality, message consistency across presentations, and timelinessCollaborate with functions to drive strategic priorities, through direct and indirect influencingSupport functions on structuring problems, planning, and setting recommendationsLead setting of yearly strategic priorities at the enterprise level, to then be cascaded into the organizationAct as thought partner to the CEO and to leaders across AlconLead special projects at request of the CEO of AlconDrive operational efficiency and focus at the corporate level, by managing agenda for key meetings, guiding presenters in standards and deadlines, ensuring action items are done

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +18 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+3 yrs) The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English10 Years of Relevant Experience Work hours: StandardTravel Requirements: 5-10%Relocation assistance: YesSponsorship available: No

HOW YOU CAN THRIVE AT ALCON:

An advanced degree (MBA, JD, MD, or PhD)Prior experience at a top-tier management consulting firm, operating as project leader or beyond, having ideally been exposed to the Pharma or Ophthalmology industriesExcellent ability to quickly learn/synthesize complex topics and focus on value driversVery strong intellectual capacity, with proven ability to work on many different topics in parallel, and to prioritize effectively (distinguishing urgency and importance)Excellent conceptual and analytical skills with a track record of structuring and preparing communication materials for senior executives (including excellent PowerPoint skills)High emotional intelligence as reflected by excellent social and interpersonal skills, a deep sense of self-awareness and self-controlProven ability to collaborate effectively across a global, matrix companyExcellent project and process management skills (e.g., at times might coordinate as many as 10-15 different documents in parallel for Alcon or ELT audiences, incorporating input from many sources)Very high attention to detail (without losing sight of the big picture) to ensure highest quality levels at all timesOrganizational skills, results orientation, collaboration and influencing abilities, business acumen, and the utmost level of integrity (including management of highly confidential information)
