With nearly $700M in venture funding and a $7.5B valuation, we’re scaling intentionally and seeking top talent to help build the impossible. If you value teamwork, ownership, and solving tough problems, Flock could be the place for you.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the CMO, the Chief of Staff (Marketing) is the operational linchpin for the entire marketing org - owning strategy cadence, operating rhythms, analytics, and the end-to-end tech stack. You’ll run marketing like an efficient operating system: architecting the full-funnel lifecycle capabilities, building attribution that leadership trusts, and turning data into decisions at weekly, quarterly, and annual horizons. You’ll be the integrator across Brand and Creative, PMM, Demand Gen, Lifecycle, Social and Paid - driving planning, execution, measurement, and continuous improvement. You’ll also be a culture carrier: building team togetherness, facilitating offsites, and leveling up how we work.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the revised marketing operating system: annual and quarterly planning, OKRs, scorecards, and weekly business reviews; keep Marketing tightly aligned with Sales, Product, Finance, RevOps, and Exec.
- Lead the Office of the CMO: create the central hub that keeps the marketing leadership team focused on the right bets, in sync with company priorities, and executing against them.
- Drive focus and accountability: translate company strategy into clear marketing priorities, resourcing plans, and success metrics; make tradeoffs explicit and ensure we are always working on the highest-ROI work.
- Orchestrate the full marketing portfolio: partner with functional leaders (Brand, Growth, GTM, Comms, Product Marketing, Field, etc.) to prioritize initiatives, sequence work, and track progress against goals.
- Support the CMO in “the business of marketing”: budget planning, investment reviews, vendor and agency governance, capacity modeling, and quarterly reallocation to what’s working.
- Partner (not own) performance insight: work closely with Marketing Analytics, Growth, and RevOps to ensure a single source of truth on performance, pipeline, and revenue impact - and bring that story into every key forum.
- Drive executive communications: build the narrative for monthly and quarterly business reviews, board/exec updates, and all-hands so our investments, bets, and results are understood and trusted.
- Be the culture and rhythm lead for Marketing: design and run the key rituals, leadership meetings, offsites, standups, retros, learning forums - that build speed, clarity, and accountability.
- Lead cross-functional execution: act as the chief integrator for high-stakes initiatives (launches, campaigns, transformations) to land on time, on budget, and on message.
- Accelerate transformation: codify frameworks, processes, and operating norms that make Marketing sharper, simpler, and more scalable as Flock grows.
- Anticipate and clear roadblocks: stay a step ahead of issues, escalating or unblocking as needed so the CMO and leadership team can operate at the right altitude.
The Skillset
- 10+ years in marketing strategy, operations, consulting, or chief of staff / general management roles in high-growth tech or platform companies.
- Proven operator who has run complex planning rhythms, cross-functional programs, and exec operating models end-to-end.
- Strong program management muscle: can drive multi-team initiatives with clear milestones, owners, risks, and tradeoffs - and keep them moving.
- Finance-literate: comfortable with budgets, forecasts, scenario modeling, and investment cases; able to translate numbers into decisions.
- Exceptional communicator and storyteller: sharp written and verbal skills, from board-level narratives to simple internal updates.
- Trusted thought partner: able to challenge and support senior leaders, synthesize inputs, and drive decisions in ambiguous environments.
- Culture builder: experience designing team rituals, offsites, and ways of working that improve speed, trust, and accountability.
- High judgment and discretion: comfortable handling sensitive topics, executive discussions, and confidential information.
Feeling uneasy that you haven’t ticked every box? That’s okay; we’ve felt that way too. Studies have shown women and minorities are less likely to apply unless they meet all qualifications. We encourage you to break the status quo and apply to roles that would make you excited to come to work every day.
90 Days at Flock
We are a results-oriented culture and believe job descriptions are a thing of the past. We prescribe to 90 day plans and believe that good days lead to good weeks, which lead to good months. This serves as a preview of the 90-day plan you will receive if you were to be hired in this role at Flock Safety.
First 30 Days
- Meet the team and key cross-functional partners; understand current strategy, priorities, and pain points from the CMO and leadership team.
- Audit the current marketing operating model: planning processes, OKRs, cadences, decision forums, and how we interface with Sales, Product, Finance, and RevOps.
- Review existing scorecards and business reviews with Analytics/Growth/RevOps to understand how we currently track and tell the performance story.
- Stand up or sharpen the Marketing Weekly Business Review with a clear agenda, owners, and a single source of truth for the metrics (leveraging existing analytics teams).
First 60 days
- Deliver the first full Marketing QBR/ABR with a tight narrative, clear OKR progress, and explicit recommendations on where to double down, pause, or stop.
- Define the “Flock way” of running Marketing: annual and quarterly planning rhythm, OKR cascade, WBR/MBR/QBR structure, and decision rights. Align this with the CMO and leadership team.
- Clarify and document portfolio priorities across Brand, Growth, GTM, Product Marketing, Communications, and Field; create a simple view of what we are betting on and what we are not.
- Establish the Office of the CMO rituals: leadership meetings, agendas, pre-reads, and follow-through mechanisms so decisions actually stick.
- Build the executive communications engine: first set of monthly performance narratives and leadership updates that connect marketing investments to pipeline and revenue outcomes.
90 Days and beyond
- Lock the operating system: WBR cadence, QBR framework, OKR process, and core meeting architecture for the marketing leadership team.
- Partner with Analytics/Growth/RevOps to finalize the core scorecard that will be used in all senior forums (Exec, Board, and cross-functional reviews).
- Play a central role in designing and running a Marketing offsite and process retro, with clear outcomes on priorities, ways of working, and transformation roadmap.
- Prepare a 12–18 month operating and transformation plan for Marketing — covering capabilities, org design, rituals, and major initiatives — so the CMO and leadership team have a clear, shared path forward.
