Job Description

We are hiring for a Chief of Staff to join The Better Information Project (TBIP), a new and ambitious team within the Meliore Foundation. TBIP’s mission is to create a revitalised and resilient information ecosystem in Europe. We will tackle the structural power of big tech and enable the regulatory and enforcement conditions for policymakers, civil society and entrepreneurs to develop and scale alternatives to the prevailing Big Tech model. We will do this by developing networked, strategic communications and policy capacity to stitch together, reinforce and deliver the narratives that support the case.

The Chief of Staff will work closely with the TBIP | Executive Director (ED) and support the ED in translating strategic priorities into action.

In this position, you will work directly with, and report to the ED, helping them equally in day-to-day operations as well as strategic initiatives - working across the whole. You will be a dynamic, highly energetic professional who can jump from one task to another with ease. You will be equally comfortable leading a strategy session, putting together a presentation and drafting reports to donors.

You will represent the ED in a variety of internal and external meetings and work with TBIP’s leadership team to align the team’s activities with its overall strategy.

How you'll contribute

  • Working closely with the ED to translate TBIP’s strategic goals into actionable plans, ensuring alignment with available resources and capabilities
  • Working with TBIP’s leadership team to align strategies and activities with the overall strategy of TBIP
  • Ensure alignment throughout TBIP by facilitating communication, coordinating efforts, and driving collaboration on key initiatives
  • Serving as a liaison between relevant functional areas within the Meliore Foundation to foster cross-functional collaboration
  • Develop briefing materials and comm for the ED for key meetings
  • Represent the ED in internal and external meetings
  • Overseeing key strategic projects for the ED and ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget
  • Leading the monitoring and evaluation function and related reporting to donors
  • Providing operational support to the ED, including recruitment, onboarding and budget monitoring, and other administrative tasks as needed

  • Demonstrated experience working on issues relating to privacy, misinformation and/or online harms in a campaigning, media, policy or communications role
  • Outstanding English language skills and demonstrable ability to produce engaging and impactful written materials
  • Excellent networking and interpersonal skills
