Job Overview

The Chief of Staff is a high-level, strategic position that works closely with the CEO to manage priorities, oversee internal operations, and spearhead special projects. This role is essential to ensuring that Ultranative remains focused on its core mission while continuously innovating and improving its services. A successful Chief of Staff may eventually move to a CEO role within one of the organization’s incubations or portfolio companies.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a Deputy to the CEO:
  • Ensure business alignment
  • Free up the CEO’s focus on key areas
  • Manage Priorities:
  • Review and synthesize metrics and initiatives to support company priority-setting
  • Assist the CEO in decision-making with data-driven insights and recommendations
  • Oversee Staff and Internal Operations:
  • Prepare agendas, take notes, and assign action items for meetings
  • Manage the OKR (Objectives and Key Results) and annual planning processes
  • Support board meeting preparation and follow-up
  • Create and implement decision-making frameworks
  • Manage All Hands meetings and other company-wide events
  • Spearhead Special Projects:
  • Lead projects to ensure alignment with company goals
  • Conduct research to identify new business opportunities
  • Manage the investment and acquisition process for potential targets
  • Lead the search and hiring process for key executive roles
  • Build business plan strategy and marketing decks
  • Drive Key Initiatives:
  • Ensure the successful execution of the incubator program
  • Collaborate with Executive Leadership across each fund and incubation to ensure each is running smoothly and in order
  • Providing strategic advice and oversite to incubations
  • Identifying new investment opportunities
  • Support capital-raising initiatives
  • Supporting Investor Relations and Investment Committee across all departments
  • Analyze data to optimize performance across various departments

Requirements

  • Passionate about psychedelics
  • Lives in Austin, Texas or willing to relocate
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a highly operational role, preferably in a high-growth startup, consulting firm, or private equity fund
  • Strong problem-solving skills and strategic thinking
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven project management skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Proficiency in GSuite, Notion, Microsoft Excel/ Google Sheets/ Numbers (Financial Planning and Analysis)

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field
  • Experience working directly with C-level executives
  • Familiarity with the psychedelic, healthcare, CPG, venture capital, digital marketing ecosystem
  • Strong network within the venture capital & family office
