The Job Description

The Chief of Staff will be responsible for directly supporting the CEO in corporate strategy, planning, fundraising, management, metrics, and various ad hoc projects to deliver the mission of Fervo Energy. This position will play a key role in setting Fervo’s annual and multi-year strategies, interacting with key internal and external stakeholders, measuring key performance metrics of the organization, and executing special projects. In addition, the Chief of Staff will interface with Fervo Executive team to integrate work across our engineering, R&D, strategy, finance, and business development functions. The Chief of Staff will report to the CEO.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute strategic initiatives in alignment with Fervo’s goals and objects, working closely with the CEO and other key stakeholders to determine and prioritize business strategies. Identify and lead initiatives to explore new business opportunities and geographies. Proactively address business needs that require immediate attention.
  • Executive Support: Provide high-level administrative support to the CEO in preparation for corporate meetings and meetings with key external stakeholders, including customers, policy makers, strategic partners, and financiers; including the preparation of reporting documents, communications, and Board presentations.
  • Cross Functional Coordination: Facilitate communication and collaboration across departments and teams, ensuring effective alignment and synergy in operations and initiatives to drive organizational success.
  • Performance Monitoring: Strategize and monitor key performance indicators and metrics to track progress towards goals, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as needed to optimize performance and outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including board members, investors, partners, and clients to foster trust and effectively represent Fervo at external meetings with both public and private sector partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field; MBA preferred
  • 3+ years of work experience in management consulting, investment banking, or equivalent position
  • Proactive, independent worker requiring minimal oversight
  • Experience in communications development, including preparation of corporate presentations for internal or external audiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong written and oral communication skills
  • Passion for climate change, the energy transition, and desire to work in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel up to 25% of the time

Location

Fervo Energy is headquartered in Houston, TX with growing offices in Oakland, CA, Golden, CO, Reno, NV, and Salt Lake City, UT. This position will be eligible for some hybrid work flexibility, but regular in-office presence at the Houston office will be required. Travel is required for this position.
