I've been working in technology for the past seven years. Over the last five years of my career, I've been focused on building new functions, developing teams, and optimizing the ways departments work together. At The Knot, I spent my first three years building their first-ever Global Technical Program Management team. We were responsible for shepherding large-scale technology-centric projects that spanned multiple teams & departments from conception to launch. I had the pleasure of not only developing the day-to-day team operations but also managing the team, creating & developing the career ladder & culture, & growing the team in accordance with the organizations' needs. After three years, I decided I wanted to get more exposure on the business side & became their first Director of E-commerce Operations. After a year of work, we launched our registry marketplace product in the summer of 2020. I was responsible for our team of operations analysts who owned product data & fulfillment operations, acted as the main technical liaison for our third-party sellers throughout integration, & partnered closely with Customer Service to deliver a best-in-class marketplace experience to our customers. Recently, I made the jump to Heat Watch as their CoS & Head of Operations where I hope to combine my love of program management, team-building, and business operations to help scale our entire organization.

Pro Tip

Lead through buy-in creation instead of authority.

Gives

(1) Agile expertise: as a trained agile coach, I think agile philosophies & practices can help us think through the way we may approach operations and/or people & culture ensuring we are empowering people to execute on their own in the long-term. (2) Management: I've led a number of group discussions at my last and current company on the transition from IC to manager: how becoming a manager means immediately making people (not tasks) your first priority. I think management experience is something that can come in handy when CoS's are working with their principals on specific people, culture, & performance projects.

Asks

As someone who is new to the role, I am hoping to gain insight on how others have tackled common challenges in the CoS role & achieved ultimate impact at their organizations.
