CoS Network Code of Conduct

CoS Network Code of Conduct

The Chief of Staff Network Community (herein “The Community”) is a community of current and former Chiefs of Staff and similar professions. As Members of The Community, we are committed to maintaining a respectful and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and supported. Our community is grounded in the principles of confidentiality, knowledge through dialogue, and peer support.

We ask that Members of The Community adhere to this Code of Conduct and hold each other accountable for upholding the principles outlined here. In joining the Chief of Staff Network Community, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. The Chief of Staff Network reserves the right to remove a Member from The Community, its events, or its programs, without refund, in response to behavior that is contrary to this Code of Conduct.

By following this Code of Conduct, we can maintain a strong and supportive community that serves and supports all Members.

Confidentiality

We take our Members’ need for confidentiality seriously. Because information shared within the Chief of Staff Network Community can be sensitive in nature, Members are expected to strictly abide by their own third party confidentiality obligations from beyond The Community and to respect others’ need for confidentiality. Members are also expected to request permission from Community staff and any Members concerned before sharing information outside of The Community, and they should strictly follow The Chatham House Rule (link) when sharing beyond The Community with permission. This includes generally withholding information from colleagues who are not Members of The Community, as well as refraining from sharing information on social media.

Sharing Knowledge

The Chief of Staff Network Community is a place for sharing deep experiential knowledge and best practices. We encourage all Members to actively participate in discussions and share their experiences and insights. When sharing knowledge, Members should default to synthesizing their own experience rather than giving advice. For example, say “In my experience…” instead of “You should….”

Peer Support

As Members of the Chief of Staff Network Community, we are committed to helping each other succeed. We encourage all Members' willingness to help others, whether by appropriately sharing resources, providing advice, or offering support. We also ask that Members be respectful of each other's time and priorities; this means we show up to our commitments, encourage each other to speak, and work together to solve problems.

Do No Harm

Disruptive or disrespectful behavior is unwelcome in the Chief of Staff Network Community. Members should demonstrate respect for each individual’s dignity and capacity to contribute. Similarly, unauthorized sales are unwelcome.
