This associate on the External Affairs Strategy and Engagement team will execute, collaborate on, and lead as appropriate substantive and significant projects and activities often clearly related to delivery and enablement. The associate’s work will involve a focus on delivering business value through identifying, facilitating and tracking critical transformation and continuous improvement opportunities across EA.

Chief of Staff Responsibilities include:

Strategic Efficiency

  • Directly support the Community Finance leadership team in all Chief of Staff related activities, with a particular focus on leadership support, operating routines, enterprise connections, and program execution
  • Influence, develop, and own a principled approach to highlighting and monitoring key deliverables across the organization

Operational Excellence

  • Be a force-multiplier driving the effectiveness of External Affairs and specifically Community Finance
  • Collaboratively develop, implement, and iterate management practices to enable transparency, efficiency and effectiveness of the Community Finance organization
  • Own timely execution of monthly and quarterly horizontal reporting deliverables related to strategic and operational priorities
  • Advise leadership utilizing institutional knowledge, network of relationships in and out of the organization, and dedication to helping amplify impact
  • Partner with Admin team to evaluate and manage meeting schedules and time commitments

Broader EA and Enterprise Engagement

  • Maintain meaningful engagement with a wide range of associates and broader professionals motivated by and dedicated to a shared vision of a better future
  • Increase broad awareness of and celebrate the career interests, talents, and great work of your fellow associates
  • As needed, offer other ad-hoc consulting or operational support to major projects or organizational needs/opportunities

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of experience in strategy consulting, advising internal or external clients, or a combination of the two
  • At least 3 years of experience in change management, continuous improvement, or business transformation, or any combination of the three

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience offering advising or consulting services to executive level clients, external or internal
  • 2+ years of experience working in a corporate function (e.g. but not limited to risk, finance, audit, legal)
  • 2+ years of work related social impact, racial equity, ESG, shared value, or corporate social responsibility, or any combination thereof
  • 2+ years of work with political, media, or regulatory stakeholders, or any combination of the three
  • 2+ years of work involving organizational design, staffing, budgets or other levers for executive decision-making

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $195,200 - $222,800 for Chief of Staff

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
