NYSERDA is searching for a Chief of Staff who will report directly to the President & CEO. NYSERDA’s Office of the President & CEO leads and supports the organization’s Executive Team in advancing the full spectrum of NYSERDA’s activities. To build out the internal team helping conceive of and implement the critical measures that will be needed, NYSERDA seeks to add a Chief of Staff to help lead and oversee operational efficiency, effectiveness, and excellence.
Shepherd day-to-day organizational tasks and requests and nurture longer-term priority projects through to completion, serving as a central coordinator to ensure all critical functions are executed well.Manage the office of the President & CEO; work with senior team and executive staff to prepare the President & CEO for internal and external meetings, presentations, and events; provide staff support to President & CEO at external meetings, activities, and events, and ensure timely follow up of all action items.Work with the President & CEO and other Executive Team members to support various important and time-sensitive requests and activities, including those relating to sister agencies and the Executive Chamber.Contribute to and lead special projects and high-priority internal initiatives covering a broad spectrum of NYSERDA’s work.Help lead the strategic planning and goal-setting work guiding the macro (organization-wide) and micro (team-by-team) development of policy and programmatic priorities, working across Business Units to ensure cohesion and alignment.Advise the development of internal thought leadership related to emerging topics, from new technologies and applications to cutting-edge policy proposals and considerations.Monitor and help NYSERDA leadership stay abreast of strategic trends in the energy and climate space as well as topics within the sphere of state government that may have a bearing on NYSERDA’s work.Ensure all outbound communications such as policy documents, key memoranda, priority correspondences, and press releases align with NYSERDA’s vision, messaging, priorities, and standards.Collaborate with Directors, Team Leads, and team members across all levels of the organization to ensure sufficient and proactive engagement with organization-wide strategic priorities.Assist in the development of succinct and accurate written analyses, briefing materials, and responses to incoming requests, helping balance the coordination of fast-paced daily priorities with important, longer-term strategic planning efforts.Drive relevant projects and policies forward by gathering and effectively organizing required information, communicating effectively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders, developing and monitoring plans, and coordinating the responsibilities and commitments of the team members.Represent NYSERDA and the President & CEO in collaborative initiatives with other New York State agencies and public and private entities and in technical conferences, public meetings, and other forums.Perform other responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in policy, economics, engineering, science or another related field with five-to-seven years of relevant professional experience.A genuine passion for issues related to energy, environment, and economic development.Strong analytical and critical-thinking competencies, with an eye for creativity, thinking outside the box, and challenging established norms and methods.Demonstrated experience developing and implementing energy and climate solutions, including for either/both external- facing market impact and internal-facing strategic organizational initiatives.Project management and leadership skills including the ability to work as a team leader and team member, maintain project timelines, and deliver on commitments.Highest level of written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, involving the ability effectively present and execute innovative ideas.Proven ability to build trust, confidence, respect and effective working relationships among individuals at all levels of the organization and with stakeholders and business partners.Familiarity with leveraging digital tools and platforms to organize intra- and inter-team collaboration and project development.A quick learner and self-starter who acts independently, directs one’s own work and can handle diverse tasks quickly and accurately within a high-pressure environment.The ideal candidate will be passionate about working and supporting NYSERDA’s goals and initiatives around diversity, equity and inclusion. A Master’s degree in one of the above fields.Knowledge of both deployment- and innovation-oriented activities within the clean energy field.Experience in and familiarity with the New York legislative and regulatory landscapes, including relevant parties, stakeholders, and issues, and/or broader climate/clean energy happenings at the state and federal level.Strong organizational engagement and team-building capabilities including a natural inclination to facilitate connections and break down siloes. The salary range is $143,454 - $180,438. Candidates will be considered based on qualifications and experience. An excellent benefits package is offered.
