The Team

Astra’s Executive Team leads from the front. They provide strategic and operational leadership to the company by setting OKRs, developing strategy, and ensuring the strategy is executed effectively. Additionally, they also provide the organizational and cultural DNA for the company. When the Executive Team functions as a collective leadership body, they serve as the model that teams throughout the organization will follow. People are the heart of Astra’s success and leading people is critical to achieving the mission.

The Opportunity

As the Chief of Staff, you will provide critical strategic, logistical, and organizational support to the Chief Engineer and his team. You will drive forward flawless execution and key organizational initiatives from our Chief Engineer in partnership with our teams: Development Engineering, Software Engineering, Launch, Manufacturing, Business Operations, Finance, and People. The Chief of Staff will lead initiatives on behalf of the Chief Engineer and simultaneously extend the effectiveness of the Chief Engineer and the organization by creating streamlined processes, communicating consistently and frequently, building trust across the organization, prioritizing areas for investment, and assisting key leaders in achieving focus within their teams. The Chief of Staff will serve as a trusted advisor to the Chief Engineer ensuring they are as efficient and effective as possible.  You will truly enjoy what you do, be flexible and communicative. This role will report to the Chief Engineer with extensive cross-functional interaction to drive strategies down to execution while keeping up the pace of Astra. This is you!

How You’ll Fulfill Your Mission   - Manage: organize and manage Chief Engineer’s calendar and inbox ensuring appropriate and timely follow up on internal and external requests for information or action items  - Drive: lead executive-level operations including but not limited to daily standups, weekly staff meetings, weekly company All Hands, and quarterly Board meetings; operate as the right-hand partner in strategic and OKR planning and deliver cross-functional business priorities   - Support: partner with Chief Engineer’s and his team with confidential and strategic initiatives ranging from investor relations and business development to operational and culture objectives   - Strategize: create structured and concise documentation, including partner-ready presentations, process flows, status reports, and other materials; acquire deep understanding of Astra’s business needs  - Optimize: manage Chief Engineer's schedule, priorities, and time to maximize his effectiveness; build rapport and trust to sit in on meetings plus make appropriate decisions on behalf of the Chief Engineer.

Desired Multipliers

  • 10+ years of operations, executive support, or coordination experience with exposure to C-level leaders
  • Consistently in office and on location with Chief Engineer throughout the week
  • Ability to accommodate occasional travel as needed (10%)
