Overview

As the Chief of Staff for the MedAlliance Acquisition, this role will act as the senior most day-to-day leader of the acquisition of MedAlliance by Cordis. They will provide the key link between executives at MedAlliance and Cordis, between the sign-and-close period, and through the integration and PMA approvals. Act as the eyes and ears of Cordis leadership on the ground at MedAlliance. Build trust with leadership from both companies and both executive teams. This role will be responsible for monitoring progress against key milestones and providing executive level updates on a regular basis. They will drive change and improvement by identifying key risks or slippages, developing, and executing on mitigation and improvement plans, and acting as an advisor to MedAlliance leaders. The role will require balancing having an outside, independent advisor role, while building a strong rapport with key MedAlliance executives until close.

This leadership role will work closely with MedAlliance leadership on a day-to-day basis and be embedded within the MedAlliance team. The role will work in close coordination with Operational/Manufacturing, R&D, Regulatory, and Clinical teams at MedAlliance, as well as various senior Executives at Cordis. This role will report to the SVP, Global Business Transformation.

This position is a Hybrid role and will require 2-3 days onsite at the MedAlliance office in Irvine, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Streamline communications, activities and progress reporting between Cordis leadership and MedAlliance
  • Own the cadence of updates through existing weekly Cordis Business System up through monthly and quarterly Board updates
  • Develop and continually update MedAlliance value creation roadmap
  • Gain trust of MedAlliance team to act as an executive advisor and be able to bridge dialog effectively between the two companies before close
  • Proactively identify potential risks, develop plans to address, and action in concert with the MedAlliance team
  • Lead the successful integration of MedAlliance operationally and successful commercial launch of the product in the US after close
  • Work closely with relevant brother/sister functions across Cordis as needed to retain support and successfully integrate and commercialize MedAlliance products globally (global supply chain and commercial integration)
  • Lead key projects that have an outsize role in success of MedAlliance and Cordis

Qualifications

  • BS required, MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • Strong business and/or technical education (relevant examples include operations, engineering, program management, finance, medical, clinical)
  • Years of experience: 8-10+
  • Medical Device, Healthcare, or Clinical Study experience a plus
  • Depth of experience and comfort in executive engagement, ideally as part of M&A, up to and including with Board members
  • Large scale, end-to-end program management skills including scoping, execution and tracking, risk identification and management, and change management
  • Interpersonal skills to develop executive relationship
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and taking initiative working in the seams between clear functional or role-based ownership
  • Ability to create and gain buy-in for actions and value creation, and see through to realization
  • Provide direction and scope guardrails to workstream leaders who are not direct reports
  • Strong financial and strategic skills
  • Experience with acquisition, Private Equity ownership, and/or M&A a plus
  • Experience in Medical Device / Clinical Trials a plus
  • Ability to work across regions, divisions, and functions to influence change across the organization
  • Ability to resolve cross team conflict
  • Exceptional teaming & collaboration both internally & externally.
