The Role:

Moderna is seeking a Chief of Staff (CoS) to provide strategic and operational support to improve business performance and reinforce and maintain a highly engaging and collaborative culture with the broader Commercial team.  Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer (COO), this person is a highly resourceful individual with strong in-direct leadership, self-motivation, and strong program leadership skills. S/he anticipates needs and demands and works to provide logical, innovative and creative solutions without precise direction. This person supports multiple projects while prioritizing tasks according to the needs of the COO and the broader Commercial team. This person will sit at Moderna’s headquarters in Cambridge, MA.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

  • Act as the liaison between the Chief Commercial Officer, other executives, and key stakeholders to ensure consistent communication and ensuring involvement or decision-making at the proper time
  • Track key initiatives by monitoring progress towards meeting goals, ensuring follow-through on the part of relevant players and sustaining momentum needed to drive these initiatives
  • Coach, mentor, and lead those responsible for leading strategic direction
  • Promote key initiatives and identify communication opportunities while partnering with support functions to support these efforts.
  • Lead meetings to ensure effective use of time, promote quality of decision making, focus on critical topics, and follow-up to actions noted
  • Identify in a proactive way all issues that impact successful execution of business objectives and decide upon timely escalation for resolution
  • Enable effective decisions by influencing others, objectivity, and supporting data/insights
  • Support the COO in defining and developing high-impact executive communications, including presentations for Executive Committee and Board meetings, as well as Commercial/company-wide Town Hall meetings and other internal and external audiences
  • Independently lead special projects as needed for the commercial leadership team
  • Support the COO with annual and quarterly budget planning

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry with experience in both operational and strategic roles
  • Prior consulting experience highly preferred
  • Independent self-starter who operates well in ambiguity, and does not require heavy direction to successfully achieve their day to day goals
  • Strong project management, analytical, time management and organizational skills
  • Ability and experience with leading, influencing others and gaining alignment
  • Global experience preferred
  • Ability to manage conflict within the team objectively and by being able to influence others to be objective to drive to resolution
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Problem solving, decision-making skills; ability to implement decisions quickly
  • Solid judgment and the ability to drive solutions that align with the business
  • Ability to think critically about issues and understand context and likely challenges
  • Experience with digital solutions and innovation
