About Motion

Motion’s mission is to empower everyone to do their best work by automatically optimizing their schedule. By constantly monitoring and reorganizing their to-do list and calendar, we help professionals make time for their highest priority tasks while never missing any deadlines. We are growing extremely quickly: several million in annual recurring revenue, 9x year-over-year growth, and trusted by 10,000+ users from world-class companies. Motion has raised over $10M from top-tier investors, including recently our Series A, and was part of Y Combinator’s Winter 2020 class.

The Role

The Chief of Staff will work closely with Motion’s Chief Operating Officer to manage our most critical initiatives during our next chapter of hyper-growth. You will serve as an extension of the COO to drive our efforts in operations, recruiting, sales, marketing, HR, and finance. As a member of the executive team, you will quickly learn every function across the company and provide strategic and operational input for every part of the organization. You will be provided every opportunity to learn the ropes of a rapidly-expanding company, develop many new areas of expertise, and advance your career on our journey together.

  • Manage Motion’s critical business initiatives and functions alongside the COO and executive team
  • Drive efforts in operations, recruiting, sales, marketing, HR, and finance
  • Create structure and focus for current business functions, help explore new market development ideas and bring forth recommendations for action

What we’re looking for

  • 3+ years experience in startups, product management, management consulting, or finance
  • Proactive, hard-working, and resourceful in pushing progress forward and meeting aggressive timelines with minimal oversight
  • Strong critical thinking abilities, able to make the right decisions given ambiguity, limited time and information
  • Excellent knowledge of business operations, corporate development, and strategy
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Quantitative background: data analysis and/or basic programming knowledge
  • Bonus: Worked with productivity software before or passion for productivity products
