About Savvy

Wealth management is a massive industry in the US ($545 billion annual revenue) but remains an archaic and inefficient industry with low technology penetration. 75% of wealth managers do not offer any digital communication beyond emails and 62% of them conduct financial planning manually (for example, in Excel). This results in a poor client experience and a low ceiling on the number of clients a wealth manager can support.

Savvy is a technology driven wealth management firm with an emphasis on building software to drive automation and efficiency for wealth managers so they can focus on what truly matters ⁠— quality time with clients. We are able to grow rapidly by hiring/acquiring wealth managers with existing books of business and supercharging them with our software to make them dramatically more efficient and provide a better digital experience for them and their clients.

We are a team of former founders and operators who have started and sold two companies and bring over two decades of experience from Brex, Facebook, Airbnb, Uber, DoorDash, and Square.

The Role

A Chief of Staff role is like no other. In this high-impact role, you will operate in a very dynamic environment where you will need to anticipate problems across the business and parachute in to solve them regardless of the functional area. Most importantly, you will act as the voice of the CEO in many internal and external scenarios, which requires humility, maturity, and situational sensitivity.

We are looking for an experienced generalist to join our team and help solve business problems, design scalable solutions as we grow, and drive key initiatives to completion. You will sit at the center of the company and get significant exposure to our product, growth, marketing, finance, and leadership efforts. We’re looking for someone who is a detailed-oriented professional and is ready to do high-leverage work right away.

The role will give you access to a unique perspective across the company, will allow you to build strong relationships with the executive team, external partners, investors, and board members, and will help you gain the ability to learn about and flex across various functions. You’d be a great fit if you aspire to be a future organization leader or founder in the future.

What You'll Do

  • This is an opportunity to develop into a future leader at Savvy, equipped with the learnings and experience to have an enormous impact after this role.
  • As the right-hand person and trusted thought leader to the CEO, you will help to think comprehensively and proactively about Savvy in order to improve the effectiveness of the leadership team, the overall organization, its strategy, and its processes. Tangibly, the day to day responsibilities will change over time, and can include one or more of the following (you will not be responsible for all of the items listed below without additional support!)
  • → Strategic Initiatives: Lead strategic initiatives, all critical to growing the business. This will involve setting up and running efficient meetings across the company to ensure teams are executing according to plan, are hitting their KPIs, and have the support they need.
  • → Fundraising: Work with the CEO on nurturing strategic relationships and communication with existing and new potential investors, building forecasts in advance of fundraising, and assisting in fundraising for the business.
  • → People & Culture: Design and reinvent programs and policies that are unique to Savvy’s culture, with the goal of maintaining a high degree of productivity, awareness, and happiness across a hybrid in-person & remote team. This includes company-wide all-hands meetings, running the OKR and goal setting process, communicating strategic updates, new hire training, the company handbook, team offsites, employee surveys, and more.
  • → Hiring: Work with leaders to identify roles we need ahead of time, figure out the hiring strategy (ideal candidate profile, recruiting channels, timing, seniority, compensation, etc.), manage the hiring process, and drive the hiring process to completion.
  • → Business Operations: By leveraging several third-party vendors, manage company back office operations on a fractional basis. This includes our HR system, insurance, IT, corporate spend, accounting, taxes, office management, and more. You will have the resources to bring on other vendors or hires to help in each function as necessary.
  • → Leadership: Take over interim leadership responsibilities in certain areas of the business, bridging the gaps on some functions before hiring the new functional leader. This includes assuming day-to-day responsibilities on projects and tasks, including management of business changes, and leading on strategic initiatives as needed.
  • Most importantly, you will be an honest truth-teller when the CEO needs a wide-ranging view without turf considerations.
  • Note: This is not an executive assistant role under a different guise. You will have access to our executive assistant and several third party vendors to support you. The ideal outcome is one where you spend your time being strategic and execute on the most important initiatives across the company.

What We're Seeking

Must Have

  • 2+ years of management consulting experience.
  • 2+ years of experience at a high growth tech startup.
  • Prior experience building and working with financial forecasts and models.
  • Strategy: A strategic operator that has experience critically thinking about and executing at both the 30,000 foot level and boots on the ground; you are comfortable at and know when to be at both of these levels.
  • Communication: An incredible communicator that can tell the story and bring leaders, team members, investors, and prospective customers along with them on a project journey. Has phenomenal presentation and writing skills that can distill a firehose of information into a cohesive story, whether it be in an email, memo/doc, or a deck.
  • Problem solving: A systems thinker with strong problem-solving and analytical skills, capable of driving recommendations and decisions rooted in qualitative and quantitative data with an astonishing attention to detail.
  • Leadership: You want to help shape the culture of the company and help us to build and scale a best-in-class team. You have the ability to hold others accountable and provide direct, constructive feedback, no matter their seniority in the company.
  • Fast learner: Track record of quickly learning and leveraging various pieces of software, third-party vendors, and other resources to get the job done. You thrive in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment with limited guidance while handling several deadlines simultaneously.

Nice to have

  • BS or MS in computer science, engineering, or other technical degrees
  • Thinking about being a founder of a company in the future
  • Have experience interfacing with executives and senior leaders
  • Prior experience with SQL and working with data and dashboards
