The Job Description

This startup is building the next big deodorant brand in the US.

Founded on the principles of science-backed ingredients and customer-centric product development, our client's products offer safe, reliable, and convenient options for managing sweating and help people gain confidence and comfort in their daily lives.

The company is hiring a Chief of Staff who will be heavily focused on brand development, supply chain optimization, and business operations and administration to fuel the growth and efficiency of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Brand & Product Management

  • Product Development and Launch: Support the Founder in the development and execution of strategic plans to launch new products, including market and vendor research and coordinating with agencies to ensure alignment with brand objectives.
  • Brand Integrity and Engagement: Oversee efforts to enhance brand recognition and trust, including securing brand verification and forming partnerships with influencers.

Business Operations and Efficiency

  • Operational Excellence and Process Improvement: Lead initiatives to streamline operations, enhance productivity, and implement scalable processes to support business growth. This includes identifying inefficiencies, proposing solutions, and leading the execution of process optimizations.
  • Project Coordination and Execution: Take the lead in coordinating and executing ad hoc projects, prioritizing tasks, managing project deliverables, and facilitating cross-functional collaboration to achieve project goals.
  • Tracking progress: Identify KPIs, build tracking sheets, and keep them current.

Supply Chain and Vendor Relations

  • Procurement and Negotiation: Negotiate with suppliers to source ingredients, packaging, etc.
  • Logistics Coordination: Collaborate with team members to oversee the distribution of product samples to consumers, clients, and vendors, ensuring timely and accurate delivery. This includes managing inventory and coordinating logistics to optimize distribution processes.

Financial Management

  • Cash Flow and Bookkeeping: Develop and maintain a 13-week cash flow projection. Keep books up-to-date through third-party software (Finaloop.com), including categorizing expenses accurately and ensuring comprehensive and compliant financial records.

Ad Hoc Tasks and Projects

  • Problem-Solving: Act as the first point of contact for immediate problem resolution, applying critical thinking and presenting solutions as they arise.

Qualifications

  • 3-4 years of professional work experience and minimum of 1-2 years of experience in operations at a CPG startup
  • Hands-on experience with brand development and product launches
  • Exceptional operational and process management skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously and effectively
  • Analytical and problem-solving acumen
  • Basic budgeting and financial analysis skills
  • Proven sense of urgency
  • Scrappy and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Must work EST hours
